Here are the 2017 deadlines for film and television fellowships. Some offer a stipend, some don’t. Not to appeal to the procrastinator in you, but typically most of these programs are annual, so if you’re not ready this year, plan for next year. Whatever you do, just get writing. Good luck!
Academy Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship: There are three deadlines for 2017: early is March 7 ($45 entry fee), regular is April 10 ($60 entry fee), and late is May 1 ($85 entry fee). The online application form must be completed and a PDF version of the script uploaded by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on May 1.
HBO Access Writing Fellowship: The submission portal will open on Film Freeway at 12pm ET/9am PT on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. The submission portal will close on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 12pm ET/9am PT.
NBC Writers on the Verge: Submission period is May 1 – 31, 2017
Nickelodeon Writing Program: Submission period is January 2, 2017 – February 28, 2017
Sesame Street Writers’ Room: Submission period is March 1 – March 31, 2017.
Sundance Episodic Story Lab: Submission period is February 1, 2017 and the lab runs October 5-10, 2017
The Walt Disney Studios and ABC Entertainment Writing Fellowship: Submission period is tbd but it will be sometime in May 2017
Warner Bros. Television Writers’ Workshop: Submission period is May 1 – May 31, 2017
